Hearthstone's rules are set in place to protect the rights of members as intended by the creators of the list. Exercise of these rights also brings a set of responsibilities. For clarity, these rights and responsibilities are outlined here:

Members of Hearthstone have the right to expect a discussion base free from hate and intolerance.

Members have the right to interact on Hearthstone without being subject to personal insult or injury.

Members have the right to express their views freely.

Members have the responsibility to respect the views and opinions of other members.

Members have the responsibility to contact one or all of the listowners if they feel any of their rights have been impinged or any of the rules broken.

Listowners have the right to speak and act on behalf of all
listowners in the case of blatant rules violations.

Listowners have the right to determine if a message thread is
unsuitable for Hearthstone.

Listowners have the responsibility to contact the other listowners if they think a violation has occurred but are unsure.

Listowners have a responsibility to ensure that their own personal beliefs and convictions will not affect their judgement of members or threads on the list.
