Alexandrite (Chrysoberyl)
Clear violet-green, light blue or orange-yellow iridescence. Color changes with angle.
Opens heart, solar plexus, and especially crown chakras.
For healing, centering, self-esteem. Opens to higher self, disattachment, psychicness, spiritual love, joy, and luck. Excellent tissue regeneration; especially Central Nervous System. Rare and Powerful.
Amber
Clear yellow or orange ancient petrified resin (possibly pine tree).
Opens solar plexus chakra.
Electromagnetic. Good for mental clarity, mood balance, confidence. Stomach anxiety, spine, Central Nervous System, brain, memory loss, cell regeneration. Excellent detoxification and protection from radiation, especially x-rays, sun, computers, airport, planes and others' energies. Amethyst
Translucent, purple/lavender Quartz.
Opens brow and crown chakras.
Psychicness, imagery, mind quieting. Wear when sleeping or when awake to reduce anger, impatience, and nightmares. Headaches, eyes, scalp/hair, pituitary, pineal, blood sugar balance. Especially aids sobriety; alcohol/food/sex/other addictions. Famous ancient detoxicifier (especially helpful with poisons and alcohol.) Keep in pet's water to reduce fleas.
Ametrine
Purple and orange.
A combination of Amethyst and Citrine, these crystals grow together and combine efforts. Good for meditation, creative thinking and a balancing of the emotions. Protects against all blood diseases and circulation.
Apache Tear (Snowflake Obsidian)
Black with white blotches resembling snowflakes.
Eases and releases pain, loss, sadness, anger, &c. to help heal and go on with life. For looking within, protection, vision quest purpose. Gently grounds and unblocks lower chakras and endocrine glands. Aids healing.
Aquamarine (Beryl)
Clear light blue to blue-green.
Throat (& spleen) chakra(s).
Tranquilizing, uplifting, openness, innocence, light-heartedness, creativity, communication, self-awareness, confidence, purpose. Heart, immune system, thymus, lymph nodes, mouth, ears, &c. Aventurine
Slightly translucent banded green quartz.
Opens heart chakra.
Heals emotional pain/fear/imbalance by dissolving blocks in the heart chakra. Historically also draws out heat of fevers, inflammation, nerves. System stress. In your bath water, a soft, soothing stone for general healing. Universal love, truth, prosperity. Much like Moss Agate.
Azurite
Solid deep blue to bluish purple.
Activates brow and throat chakras.
More assertive communication and alert, quiet, deep access to subconscious and other times/places/lives. Psychicness, creativity, decisiveness, deeper insight, seeing truth. Reduces depression, anger, abnormal cell growth. High copper content stimulates thyroid, sinus, skin cleansing, spleen, nervous system, mental + etheric bodies.
Bloodstone (Heliotrope)
Solid dark green with red flecks.
Electromagnetic (high iron). In ancient Egypt used to calm, ground, revitalize. Classic for wealth, menstrual cramps, anemia, blood clots, hemorrhoids, birthing/reproductivity, imbalance. Cleansing heart and blood circulation, marrow, thymus, lungs.

Transluscent milky yellow, peach, green, white, clear, or a combination. Very soft crystaline structure.

Coral

Clear and Purple: Objectivity; clears the way for new things, upliftment, aura cleanse, 3rd eye, eyesight, sinuses; repels colds. Enhances other gems.

Garnet
Red: Root and sacral chakras. Warms, energizes emotionally and physically (arthritis, frostbite, paralysis), grounds. Used by ancient cultures. Good for exhaustion, low blood pressure, detoxing and strengthening blood, muscles, kidneys, gallstones. Stimulates life force and sexuality, hormone balance, antibodies, fertility, persistence, stamina, passion, confidence (and stubbornness). Goldstone
Medium brown with tiny coppery glitter. Reported to be a man-made form of sunstone originally created when alchemists were working towards creating gold. Gently uplifting, mildly helpful to solar plexus chakra, to reduce stomach tension, protect center of body.
Hematite
This metallic gray mineral has a long history of medicinal use. Tumors on the eyelids were treated with hematite dissolved in egg white or fenugreek. General inflammation of the eyelids only needed a solution of hematite in water. Ground to a powder, it was used to cure blood diseases (3 grains in oil) and to soothe skin ulcerations or burns. Hematite also was used to treat bilious disorders (rub with a moistened whetstone until a red juice is obtained).
Herkimer Diamond
A special clear quartz. Shifts brain powerfully into alpha/deep stillness, opening the brow and crown chakras for a strong, clear channel, psychic readings, meditation, OBEs. May make one too "high"/spacey to wear. In meditation or on your pillow, it enhances visualization, astral travel and dream recall. Amplifies and stores thoughts, energy; use as bridge to stimulate energy flow up through the chakras. Cleanse often.
Howlite
Gently absorbs and uplifts stress, tension, anxiety, emotional intensity, &c. Quietly loving, calming. Works with the heart chakra to bring greater gentleness, patience, tact. Helps bones, teeth, and other calcium aspects of body.
Jade
Solid to translucent green. Health, wealth, longevity. Ancient Chinese used also for courage, wisdom, justice, mercy, emotional balance, stamina, love, fidelity, humility, generosity, peace, harmony. Lungs, heart, thymus, immune, kidney and blood detoxification, nervous system. Androgynous.
Jasper
Chalcedony quartz. Multi-colored, solid. Yellow, orange, brown, green.
Yellow: Solar plexus chakra. Stomach, intestines, liver, spleen areas. Earthy grounding.
Green: Respiratory/Heart chakra. General tissue regeneration; mineral assimilation; general healing.
Darker colors: more grounding. (Also less conductive for healing)
Jet
Jet is sometimes called Black Amber. Like amber, it often was burned and the fumes inhaled to alleviate various conditions, including edema, colds, female disorders, and hysteria. A mixture of jet in wine relieved toothache and served as a fixative for loose teeth. The gem also was used as a dentifrice. It is often worn to ease arthritis of the knee and to prevent baldness.
Kunzite
Spodumene with lithium. Pink, clear. Powerful, high level stone. Strengthens healers, teachers. Opens the emotional heart and spiritual heart. Unconditional lovingness, compassion. Healing abuse/loss/addictions. Helps emotional balance, confidence, connection to higher self, oneness. Reduces depression, mood swings, stress, radiation. Opens brow and crown chakras. Deepens altered state: psychic readings, healing, being centered emotionally and spiritually.
Kyanite
Light blue, splintery. Placed on brow, this opens brow and throat chakras. Enhances psychic images, foresight, consciousness, meditation, communication. On 3rd eye; answers questions, especially in imagery. Brings out our natural ability to manifest things into reality via thoughts, visualization. Tranquility.
Lapis Lazuli
Solid, medium to dark blue. In meditation, opens brow chakra: higher guidance, intuition, connection to higher self, overview, decisions for good of all. Organizes, quiets mind. Opens throat chakra. Promotes self-expression, writing, creativity and dream insight. Helps soothe nxiety, restlessness, insomnia, autism, shyness, nervous system, speech, hearing, pituitary, DNA, lymph, inflammation, pain (especially head). Good for protection.
Malachite
Steady pulsing electromagnetic energy. (High copper content)
On brow: Stimulates physical and psychic vision, concentration.

Moldavite
Greenish to brownish green Tektite. Dull outside, deep clear green inside. Powerfully expands psychicness, channeling. On heart chakra eases longing to leave earth. On pillow, brow, crown: "telepathic" access to spiritual laws, info from higher regions/places to help us and Earth to be healthier and more spiritual. **Fragile--don't salt cleanse**
Moonstone (Feldspar)
Translucent white with pink and yellow flecks and a soft sheen. Soothes stress, anxiety, women's hormones/menstrual imbalance, lymph. Enhances intuitive sensitivity via feelings while making personal feelings less overwhelming. Greater flexibility and flow with life. Connects sacral and brow chakras and pineal gland for emotional balance, gracefulness. Helps all be more comfortable with our gentler feminine/yin receiving side. Especially good for water signs.
Morganite
Related to Emerald and Aquamarine. Clear, ,soft pink to translucent to clear violet. Inspires spiritual love, compassion, equality, empathy, patience. Spiritual heart chakra. Also heart, lungs, breathing, throat, oxygenation. One of the highest frequency stones available.
Mother Of Pearl
Carries the gentle, peaceful healing energy of the sea. Relaxes, soothes emotions, sensitivity, stress.
Obsidian
Root chakra.
Solid/translucent black to smokey. Objectivity, dis-attachment, grounding. Reduces fantasy/escapism. Absorbs and dissolves anger, criticism, fear, &c. Unusual black stone: Absorbs dark and converts to light. Friendly. Can't be misused. Brings higher chakra light into lower ones; cleanses, uplifts. Changes fear into flexibility with change.
SNOWFLAKE: Root and throat chakras. Clairaudience and owning our lower aspects for growth; Healthy balance. (Be aware - Obsidian balls help to see truths by initially amplifying beliefs, patterns, fears, blocking our growth.)
GREEN: Heals broken crystals and charges them.
Onyx
Balances and grounds. Absorbs and flattens emotional intensity. Androgynous. Can't conduct or retain healing energy/programming very well.
Black: Root chakra. Grounding.
Green: Heart chakra.
Yellow: Solar plexus chakra. Seriousness, logic.
Blue: Throat chakra. The more translucent/clearer, the more effective.
Opal
A silicate. Crown and brow chakras. Contains water, and so is commonly associated with emotions. Clarifies by amplifying and mirroring feelings, buried emotions, and desires (including love and passion). Less inhibition, more spontaneity. Helps visualization, imagination, dreams, healing. Easily absorbs, stores emotions and thoughts. Fragile. Fades/cracks in sun, heat, salt, acidic foods. Moisten frequently with water or oil. Some cancel/negate other gems. May change color with high energy/intensity people.
White: Balances L/Rt. brain.
"Black"/Dk blue: One of the most potent.
Fire Opals: May stimulate passion, temper, energy.
Pearl
White: Symbol of pure heart and mind; innocence, faith. Of the sea, it has watery and lunar elements, thus balancing emotions, especially for water signs. Absorbs thoughts, emotions. For solar plexus chakra (digestion, stomach, WBCs, immunity) and emotional stress. Low integrity or anger rebounds to user (like Opal). Cleanse frequently. Fire signs less compatible unless drawn to Pearl. May cool and soothe.
Gold and Black: Also for prosperity.
Pink: Works especially with the heart chakra.
Pearls are best used without other gems.
Peridot
Clear bright green to greenish yellow. Clears heart chakra pathways, strengthening breath of life, prosperity, growth, openness. Used by Egyptians, Aztecs, Incas to gently cleanse and heal the physical heart chakra (lungs, lymph, breast). Yellower gems also for solar plexus chakra (stomach, liver, &c.). Helps one understand relationships, other realities. Alleviates depression, anger, fear, jealousy, anxiety.
Pyrite
One of the most grounding stones in use today. Used for focus, practicality, logic, memory, clearing fuzzy thinking/scatteredness &c., like Hematite. Helps solar plexus chakra: Stomach, intestines, ulcers; sulfur and mineral assimilation, circulation. Helps clear body acidity imbalances, depression, illusions/lack of clarity about situations/people. Great for grounding after meditation/psychic readings.
Quartz
Many forms and colors, but "quartz" by itself generally refers to the clear stone. Probably the most versatile multi-purpose healing stone. Easy to cleanse, store info/energy in, program or amplify energy and healing with. Can both draw and send energy. Yin or Androgynous. Works with all chakras and master glands.
Blue (Or gray/lavender): A good healing stone for linking heart with throat and brow chakra to expand self expression and creativity, and refine communication skill to new levels. Eases throat tension. Immune system, thyroid, iodine and B Vitamin use. Some say shining light through Blue Quartz can help reduce need for glasses. Still evolving.
Rose: Translucent to clear Pink. Love, beauty, peacefulness, forgivness, self-love, emotional balance. Soft. Gently soothes and warms heart chakra. Emotional healing of loss, stress, hurt, fear, low confidence, resentment, anger. Slowly eases childhood traumas/neglect, low self-esteem. Cleanse and recharge often. Aligns mental, emotional, and astral bodies.
Rutilated/Rutile: Clear quartz with metallic golden rutile, copper, or blue/gray titanium fibers that conduct electrically and amplify energy/thoughts/programming for healing. Intensifies altered states. Opens crown and brow chakras for meditation, clairvoyance, telepathy, insight. Some make some too spacey or scattered to wear. Stimulates immunity, strength, blue corona, imagery, dreams. Golden fibers may increase radiation protection and health rejuvination. Each stone's energy/qualities are unique. Androgynous.
Smoky Quartz: 2 kinds:
1.) Smoky, root beer, or chocolate-colored clear crystals. The clearest, most intense ones open the crown chakra drawing light down the root chakra, inducing Alpha/deep meditation for channeling/higher guidance, deep relaxation and compassion. Used also to stimulate meridians, kundalini energy, and to correct fertility/reproductive imbalance. Stores info well. Alleviates fear, anxiety, depression, emotional stuckness, &c.
2a.) Dense, dull, solid/semisolid black/brown, less attractive. Very grounding, opposite of other smokeys . May feel dense, heavy, and nonconductive.
2b.) Many were irradiated to turn them this flat, dark color with white edge of base. If so, they're not useful for conducting light/healing, thus less useful for wearing or healing.
Rhodocrosite
Solid to clear pink. A gentle stone, but vibrantly healing to the heart chakra. Also for loneliness, loss, heartache, fear, insecurities, inner-child issues, abuse, and incest issues. Helps self-forgiveness and trust issues. Best worn 24 hours a day. Electromagnetic. Stronger than Rose quartz. Good for solar plexus, stomach (anxiety), food addictions, anorexia, asthma, thymus, and emotionally refusing to see things. Opens the hand healing chakras. Specialized uses to detoxify and heal blood, liver, cancer.
Rhodonite
Pink, black inclusions. Works with heart chakra; helps us express confidence and lovingness on physical plane in day-to-day ways. Calms and feeds the soul through the heart; love and service. Soothes nightmares. Stress, heartache, loss, &c.
Rubellite/Red Tourmaline
Heart and root chakras.
Strengthens, grounds/rejuvenates, warms. Unites heart and body for love, courage, passion, energy, stamina, steadiness. High Lithium content (which causes the pink/red color) brings emotional balance, compassion, devotion in a down-to-earth way. Balances body's electrochemistry. Helps detach from personal pain. Releases reproductive chakra blocks; stimulates fertility. Used to strengthen and detoxify blood and immune system and to ease radiation effects.
Ruby
Red Corundum. Contains chromium (blood sugar balance). Warms, energizes after exhaustion. Strengthens physical and emotional heart (heart chakra), love, courage, confidence, vitality, stamina, strength, leadership, success over challenges. Intensifies all emotions (passion, jealousy, impatience, love &c.). Used for root chakra; infections, cholesterol, clots, blood detoxification (alcohol, caffeine, etc), sexual blocks. Sapphire (Corundum)
Blue, green, pink, purple, clear. Related to Ruby.
Blue: Communication, insight, intuition, clairaudience, inspiration, spiritual prayer/devotion, peacefulness. Pituitary and Thyroid. Detoxifyng skin and body. Antidepressant. Cools, contracts, soothes, thus reducing inflammation, fevers, nosebleeds. Hearing problems, TB, burns, &c. ood for nervous system and meridians. Strongest if used next to skin. Especially good for throat chakra.
Star: Adds wisdom, will, centering, cheerfulness, luck. Reduces radiation effects, anxiety, procrastination. Some effects subtle. Black: More grounding. Good for protection. May strengthen by posing challenges to overcome.
Sodalite
General communication and writing stone. Logic, ideas, truth. Balances body energy levels via thyroid, pituitary, lymph, and other glands. Helps throat chakra, insomnia, neck, mouth, hearing, blood sugar, &c. Cooling and drawing for infections, burns, sinus inflammations, high blood pressure, &c. Still evolving.
Spinel
Blue, green: Calms alleviates stress, depression. Mental rejuvenation. Most commonly used to aid in detoxificion.
Red: Gives strength and stimulates kundalini.
Staurolite-"Fairy Cross"
Brown or gray with cross-like extrusions. Represents the four classical elements, and the joining of spirit with earth/matter. Spirituality, compassion, disattachment; Focus centered on the Here and Now.
Sugilite (Aka: Luvulite/Royal Azele)
Solid, purple. Important healer's stone used to gently draw out pain (including headaches), inflammation, stress, disease, toxins, and emotional blocks. Protects; Absorbs and dissolves anger, hurt, unwanted energies. Placed on brow chakra to alleviate depression, despair, and stress. Brings spirit/light into physical body and heart for healing. Sunstone
Aventurine feldspar with gold-orange metallic sheen. Warms the heart and lifts/rejuvenates the spirit. Protection, life force, grounding.
Tanzanite
Clear, blue-purple-violate Zoisite crystal. Opens brow and crown chakras. Helps expand physical and mental awareness.
Tiger Eye
Chalcedony quartz. Yellow-gold. Promotes confidence, willpower, clear thinking(and thus speaking), and personal power in life. Good for solar plexus chakra, though not as strong as Citrine or Topaz. Amplifies thinking, manifestation of thoughts, and strength of will. Helps separate thoughts from feelings. Aids digestion, stomach, anxiety, ulcers, bones.
Topaz
Golden or pink.
Golden: The most powerful, electromagnetic of the yellow, solar plexus gems. A strong, steady, high level gem for mental clarity, focus, perceptivity, high level concepts, confidence, personal power, and stamina. Helps mood swings, insomnia, worries, fears, depression, exhaustion, nervous system stress, stomach anxiety. Also works somewhat with the crown chakra. A powerful, electromagnetic, striated gem. Clear and colorless in its natural form: Works with the crown chakra and transpersonal point (and pituitary and pineal) for Universal Truth, intuition, durability, steadiness, integrity and connection with "All That Is." Eases depression, insomnia. Also historical poison detoxifier. Man-made (cubic Zirconia or "CZ") is not nearly as strong/effective as natural.
